Welcome readers to a Very Special Announcement! Winnie Acts Up will be published and launched on Tuesday, August 29!That's 90 days from yesterday. Everything is slowly falling into place for Pre-Ordering, too. I anticipate offering Winnie in paperback or hardback by June 10. Details are still sketchy but will be uncovered as they emerge. As my terrific team is working to get Winnie Acts Up ready, Sherrie, George, and I are working to get Terre Haute's Community Theater Summer Camp ready by July 10th. We offer Applause camp for ages 7-9, Bravo camp for ages 10-12, and Center Stage camp for teens. Each camp provides a more in-depth experience with all aspects of theater: from auditioning and memorizing to costuming props, and stage craft. Children who are graduates of our camps have performed on our main stage and other venues in town, and many of our earliest Applause students are now college kids with great theater memories.
Some of the goals of my book, Winnie Acts Up, are:
1) To show kids the process of a theater production;
2) To demonstrate the great friendships that can occur; and
3) To share theater vocabulary that is specific to this unique social event.
I hope wherever you live there is a summer theater experience available for children. If not, even a few everyday theater-type activities like dress-up play or making funny faces in the mirror, would serve children's curiosity and creativity well.
