Empowering Young Minds With Nonfiction Picture Books

Updated: Jul 20

Well, I've done it again! I have begun the illustration process for a second book. Whew!

This time it's a Bella book. She has an amazing nose that will be featured in this book, along with the many critters she gets a whiff of every day.

Kids love to read about real animals, especially pets. My intention is to offer children (and adults) a picture book of scenes around a yard that a dog might smell, that they can wonder about. What animal made that hole? What critter climbed up that pile of gravel? Which one had that long hairless tail? These are just a few examples of the creatures we have experienced in our yard.

I am still overwhelmed by the number of decisions a children's book author has to make daily. If it isn't about the story line, it's about the illustrations, the placement of text on the page, the size of the dog, or a color choice for something. I anticipate it being ready by fall if I can get all those decisions made.

Thank you again for being part of my crew!

Have a Magic Monday and don't forget to savor the sunscreen as you celebrate July 4th!

Pat
